![]() ![]() In Just Like Home, Vera returns to her family home after many years away, summoned by her dying mother Daphne to clean out the house in preparation for her death. Sarah Gailey’s books are always a little bit out-there, full of surprises and strange situations and characters who take some time to truly “get.” Just Like Home, though, is the first book I’ve ready by them that I’d describe as flat-out creepy… and occasionally pretty gross. Vera must face them, and find out for herself just how deep the rot goes. There are secrets yet undiscovered in the foundations of the notorious Crowder House. He insists that he isn’t the one leaving notes around the house in her father’s handwriting… but who else could it possibly be? A parasitic artist has moved into the guest house out back, and is slowly stripping Vera’s childhood for spare parts. ![]() ![]() Back to face the love she had for her father and the bodies he buried there.Ĭoming home is hard enough for Vera, and to make things worse, she and her mother aren’t alone. In spite of their long estrangement, in spite of the memories - she’s come back to the home of a serial killer. “Come home.” Vera’s mother called and Vera obeyed. ![]()

Six of Crows ended with Inej being taken by Van Eck, and him demanding Kuwei Yul-Bo being handed over to him in exchange. ![]() I am going to just give you a spoiler free review of my thoughts about this book. ![]() It was really good, it just wasn't everything I was hoping for. It didn't but, if I am being completely honest, it also wasn't my favourite ending to a series either. So that made it very hard to read the second and final book in this duology, I was so nervous that I wouldn't enjoy it or it would end badly. I hate having to review the last book in a series, especially one that I LOVE! I absolutely adored Six of Crows, it was one of my top reads of 2015 and introduced me to 6 of my new favourite characters. Kaz and his crew will have to make sure they're on the winning side.
